The hutch tab can be used to set detector distance, omega angle, phi angle and slits. The following are instructions on the two most common uses: setting phi angle and slits width. Adjusting the phi angle is often used to flip the crystal when collecting the second 180° of a 360° collection. Changing the slits opening is often performed when the crystal is much smaller than the beam and one wishes to minimize air scatter. Note that there is also a proportional loss of flux onto the sample.
